Guarding machinery is seldom straight forward and in this case a combination of machine specific and modular guarding was used to protect workers from product and machinery on a metal forming line. Some of the techniques used to eliminate hazards included:

• Overlapping panels to eliminate shear hazards.
• Light curtains where operator contact is required and dual circuit monitored pneumatic isolation valves.
• Interlocked hatch covers where operator access is required.
• Custom stainless steel guarding.
